Positions of all switches are referenced with the guitar in the
playing position. Below is a photograph of
Triple Threat pickguard assembly with each of
the 3 mini-toggle switches labeled for reference
within the instructions below.
Mini-Toggle Switch Assignments
/ Function:
Sw1 -
Bridge pickup
output level (Up =
High
Output / Down =
Low
Output).
Sw2
- Neck pickup activation (Up = Turns
OFF
the Neck Pickup / Down = Turns
ON the Neck Pickup).
Sw3 - Direct-Through Mod
Selector (Down =
Direct Through
Activated / Up =
Direct Through
Deactivated).
The 5-way switch
will operate normally as it does with any modern Strat® as follows:
1 - Bridge
2 - Bridge + Middle
3 - Middle
4 - Neck + Middle
5 - Neck
Mini-Toggle Switch
Sw1 is to switch the
Seymour Duncan SSL-5T bridge pickup between its
full (high) output mode and its low (vintage)
output mode. When
Sw1
is in the up position the bridge pickup
is in full output mode and when
Sw1
is down it is in low output mode.
Mini-Toggle Switch
Sw2 is to turn
on the neck pickup.
It is to be used when the 5-way switch is in
positions 1 or 2. When your selector switch is
in position 1 which is for the Bridge pickup and
with mini-toggle switch
Sw2
on (down) you would then have the Bridge and Neck pickups
selected together. When your selector
switch is in position 2 which is for the Bridge
and Middle pickups selected together and
with mini-toggle switch
Sw2
on (down) you would then have all three pickups selected
together. This switch performs the same
function as our Gilmour Black Strat recessed
mini-toggle switching system.
Mini-Toggle Switch Sw3
is the "Direct Through" modification which sends
the pickup(s) signal as selected by the 5-way
selector switch directly to the
output jack entirely by-passing the volume and
tone controls and any attenuation of the signal
which occurs by going through those controls.
When Sw3 is in the up position the Direct
Through mod is deactivated. When
Sw3 is in the
down position the Direct Through mod is
activated and the volume and tone controls are
bypassed (will
not operate) and you'll notice your tone will be a bit
brighter and louder. Here is a link to an
article from Premier Guitar further explaining
the
Direct Through modification.
